Arts&Design in Senior High DCNHS-SHS launches Pakitang Sining exhibits and performances

SHOWCASING this year’s final output, the Arts & Design track of Davao City National High School SHS Department held its first Pakitang Sining with a sense of renaissance towards the involvement of student artists in developing their identity through different Art forms at the Alumni Multi-Purpose Gym on March 8, 2018.

Students of Visual Arts and Media Arts of Grade 11 – Manansala and Grade 12 – Amorsolo exhibited their Paintings, Photographs and Fashion Designs in “Pigment of Stories”, where the works inspired by the students' perceptions and self-expressions in colors and monotones gave the viewer a glimpse into their individual lives.

Cutting the ceremonial ribbon on opening day were Sun.Star Davao editor-in-chief Stella Estremera, Dinky Munda of Tabula Rasa Art Group; and this year’s recipient of 2018 Datu Bago Award artists and environmentalist Ricardo Obenza Jr.. Joining them were SHS Assistant Principal Sherly Elizabeth Jacobe, SHS Visual Arts Instructor Jeff Bangot, Junior High Special Program for the Arts in Visual Arts trainer Glecy Aileen Gonzales, and DCNHS1998 alumnus Architect James Villodres.

The Grade 11 exhibitors were Andy Clark Del Campo, Angelito Hormachuelas, Apple Joy Santos, Avia Villagonzalo, Caranov Arnel Tibug, Florencio Del Rosario III, Ivan Jeff Cordova, Jason Jatico, Jedzel Chian Estrelloso, Jessa Candia, Joan Nicole Mondigo, Antonnette Grace Loyola, Dave Andrew Conde, Josua Sianne Gabrielle Camporedondo, Joy Angela Bacayan, Karen Faith Acobo, Kenneth Burcelis, Lester Cyril Gacang, Neil Teves, Rafael Abella, Rembert Vergara Jr., Rubejean Canoy, and Shaina Kline Kubo.

Mondigo and Candia also joined Darius Jireh Juson in showcasing the dresses they designed, which were also in the exhibit as their fashion design outputs.

The Grade 12 exhibitors were Honney Lyn Amaga, Cherry Grace Villa, Cyril Joyce Baquirel, Eloisa Lulab, Karen Jane Dagatan and Shyl Heart Lanoy.

They are under the tutelage of Jefferson Bangot, Arts & Design coordinator.

Later in the afternoon of the same day, the Grade 11 Theater Arts class took the stage, performing their musical play entitled “Gugma-Heh”, a story about the impression of today’s generation on heartbreaks and infatuations performed with OPM tracks. The lead casts Sade Barretto as Amanda and Rafael Abella Jr. as Bobet explored how to be teenagers nowadays.

The Grade 12 students gave the final performance through cultural, modern and contemporary dances that spoke of the unity among Mindanawons. Davao Girls’ Choir conductress Maria Elena Gementiza, including the Madayaw Cultural Ensemble members, Bryan Ellorimo and Agustin Santos III and Kathara Theater Collective helped in developing their event called “Panag-ingnan sa Panaghiusa”

The class is under the tutelage of Yvonne Valdez.

The performances and exhibits are the students' final output for the year and serves as avenues for the students to show their extraordinary skills in the Arts and Designs track.
