Malasakit, the uniquely Filipino way of caring for others, should never be bound by geographic borders. At least, that is what Apex Mining believes in. Aside from implementing a wide array of health, livelihood, education and other community development initiatives in its host and impact barangays, the publicly-listed gold producer also tries to bring about positive change in areas outside its areas of mining operations.

Children in need, together with their hopeful parents, are everywhere. Apex Mining erased the geographic boundary line, so to speak, extending its support across the Davao Region by becoming the first-ever Diamond Partner of Tebow CURE Hospital Philippines. During the latter’s 10th anniversary celebration, Apex Mining, led by its president and CEO, Luis R. Sarmiento, ASEAN Eng., turned over its P3M donation to help bolster Tebow Cure’s capability to treat more kids and nurture them back to health. Tebow CURE Hospital provides charitable surgeries for children with treatable disabilities.

“Mining becomes a problem when illegally performed.” said Atty. Rodulfo A. Palma, Apex Mining’s VP for Legal, Mine Compliance and Risks at the Small- Scale Summit on 01 May 2025 organized by the Mining Industry Tripartite Council (Department of Labor and Employment Region XI).

Palma read the keynote speech on behalf of Apex Mining’s Sarmiento. Palma highlighted the importance of collaborating small-scale miners to promote its role of uplifting the economy through mining operations that are not just legally compliant but sustainable as well.

“At Apex Mining, we find or create opportunities to help our small-scale miners because they are not the enemies of the mining industry. Small-scale miners have their strengths that can complement the capabilities of large-scale mining companies,” he added.
