WHO knows mom’s impeccable style can inspire a son someday to pursue fashion design and even put up his own school?

One of the country’s notable designers today, Xioti Chiu was once just a huge fan of his mother’s daily mix and match for work.

“I was really fond of her taste in clothing. I consider me being creative is a trait I got from my mother,” Xioti, who started practicing his craft in high school proms and balls.

A couple of years later, he became a registered nurse but his love for design never left him so he pursued his passion for fashion. Having been hailed as best designer of his batch at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines proved that his talent is indeed worthy of an audience.

“I roughly think we should stick to whatever degree we have, what happened with me was I just went on with my philosophy of weaving confidence through dressing-up beautifully,” he said.

His career has skyrocketed since and was invited to dress-up high-profiles including Heart Evangelista, Lourd Ramos, Marian Rivera and Jasmine Curtis, among others who can get a chance to slip through his schedule.

He returned to Davao in 2014 and at the same year put up his very own clothing line and atelier called Famo Xiete located at Door L-7 Valencia Corp. Arellano St., cor Jacinto Ext., Davao City.

This year, he and his colleague Argie Paul Irenea have worked together to open the Institute of Fashion and Creative Arts (IFCA) last June 8, with the mission to bring out the best in everyone, making them competitive in the international fashion Industry.

If you want to be part of IFCA’s pioneering batch of students, they are still accepting enrollees. You may visit them at Door 1, 3F Vilmers Building, McArthur Highway, Matina (just near Shrine Hills). They can be reached, too, at mobile number 09458395477.

Being successful at 33, Xioti only has one mantra to share to whoever wants to follow his path, “Our life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. This is how I motivate myself."
