IN A display of community spirit and dedication, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Eastern Mindanao Region Davao Girl Scout Council was honored at the Pilar Lim Hidalgo Auditorium of the GSP National Headquarters in Manila.
Bankas Elementary School in the Piedad District of Purok 2 Camansi, Toril, Davao City, emerged as the recipient of the prestigious 2022 National Outstanding Magic Spot Project award. Troop number Junior 1605, led by Ritchel Manlangit (Troop Leader) and supported by Krisha Sultan (Girl Scout), Allan Padin (Barangay Captain), and Joseph Malise (School Principal), transformed a neglected area into a vibrant community space.
The torch of excellence continued to burn bright in 2023, as Troop Masigla from Manambulan Elementary School in Barangay Manambulan, Toril, Davao City, was recognized with the National Outstanding Magic Project award. Jessica Pasacan (GSP School Coordinator), Jaylyn Frande (Girl Scout), Lorelyd Dianne Celebrar (Barangay Committee Chair), Noel Real (School Principal), Leonida Polentinos (District Commissioner), and Marelou Lorono (District Field Adviser) played pivotal roles in turning a vision into a laudable actual project.
The Magic Spot Project, a commendable initiative, empowers Girl Scouts to revitalize neglected spaces within their communities. It hones their planning skills and fosters teamwork, allowing them to execute community development projects with precision and flair.
Meanwhile, Troop Junior 164 from Manambulan Elementary School garnered accolades as a 2022 National Finalist for the esteemed Pilar Hidalgo Lim Troop Achievement Award. Receiving the award in Manila were Lina Dumadan (Troop Leader), Wendee Lofranco (Girl Scout), Cris Pecasion (Barangay Captain), and Ma. Lourdes Lemosionero (School Principal).
The Pilar Hidalgo Lim (PHL) Troop Achievement Award is a beacon of recognition for troops that excel in community projects, emphasizing traits like meticulous planning, active community involvement, and financial literacy. It stands as a testament to the GSP's commitment to nurturing well-rounded and responsible young leaders.
The ceremony was not only a celebration of community projects, but also an occasion to honor outstanding individuals. National Outstanding Girl Scouts, Exceptional Troop Leaders, and Outstanding Field Advisers for the year 2022 were acknowledged for their unwavering dedication.
