It’s been a month since my mom and I visited the happiest place on earth — on my birthday!
Even though it was my second time at HKDL, and I thought I could maximize our time based on my previous experience with my kids, my mom and I still had some regrets. Looking back, we realize our trip could have been even better if we had avoided the following:
- Walking too much – My mom got tired faster than we expected, so we had to take more breaks and bathroom trips. This took up time that we could have spent on rides and attractions. Next time, we’d plan a slower pace with proper rest stops.
- Bringing extra stuff – Aside from our body bag, we carried a backpack filled with extras like my mom’s boots (which we only used for photos), snacks, and bottled water. It made walking around more tiring than it should have been. Lesson learned: pack light!
- Mom’s jacket was too small – My mom’s jacket was too tight, making it hard for her to move. When the temperature dropped at night, she felt even colder. A bigger, warmer jacket would have been so much better. Tip for everyone: always choose comfort over fashion — lesson learned! Hahaha.
- Waiting too early for the fireworks – We secured a good viewing spot for the fireworks early, but that meant missing out on some rides I wanted my mom to try. We should have managed our time better so we could enjoy both.
- Despite these little hiccups, our Hong Kong Disneyland trip was still an unforgettable experience — especially because I got to share it with my mom! Seeing her excitement and childlike wonder made every moment special.
If you’re thinking about bringing your mom (or any loved one) to HKDL, go for it! Plan wisely, pack smart, and most importantly, enjoy every magical moment together. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the rides or attractions — it’s about making memories that will last a lifetime.
