The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Medical Device Ecosystem Development Association (Hipelki), and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., has successfully hosted the “Indonesia-Philippines Health Forum 2025” held on May 15, 2025 at the House of Indonesia in Davao City.
The event convened over 80 participants, comprising representatives from the Indonesian Health Association and its companies, Philippine companies, government agencies, and key healthcare stakeholders.
This meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the health sector and to provide a strategic platform for Indonesian medical device manufacturers to engage directly with potential partners and clients in Mindanao.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Agus Trenggono, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, underscored the importance of building sustainable partnerships in healthcare to support regional innovation, accessibility, and economic recovery.
“We believe that through platforms like this, we can not only strengthen economic ties but also contribute to improving healthcare accessibility and innovation in our region,” said ConGen Trenggono.
Messages of support were also delivered by Dr. Roland Suico, president of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.; Dr. Randy Teguh, MM, Chairman of Hipelki; and Ms. Poppy Yeanny, acting secretary of the Directorate General for Asia Pacific and Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who joined virtually via Zoom.
“The Davao Chamber has long valued its growing relationship with the office of the Consulate General of Indonesia. Over the years, we have witnessed the consistent efforts of the Consulate to build linkages between Indonesia and Mindanao—not just in trade, but in education, culture, and now, healthcare,” said Davao Chamber President Dr. Roland Suico.
A Gong Ceremony symbolized the official opening of the collaboration platform, witnessed by distinguished guests, business partners, and stakeholders from both countries.
This was followed by a networking and business-matching session led by Dr. Teguh, featuring presentations from 10 leading Indonesian medical and health technology companies: PT Prima Crescendo Abadi, CV SMLabs, PT Widya Genomic Nusantara, PT Widya Imersif Teknologi, PT USM Berkah Indonesia, PT Likuid Pharmalab Indonesia, PT Pionir Nusantara Manufacturing, PT Atara Cipta Medika, PT Hospi Niaga Utama, and PT Sugih Instrumendo Abadi.
The Indonesian health products have met the safety, quality, and performance elements required by the Indonesian Ministry of Health through a product registration process based on international standards (ISO 13485), Good Medical Device Production Methods (CPAKB) / Indonesian Medical Device Quality Management System. With more than 200 competent members, Hipelki will be a valuable asset to build Indonesia's strength in exporting medical devices to Asean and other markets.
“Through the healthcare sector, we are opening new doors for collaboration — ones that prioritize innovation, access, and shared progress. The Indonesian companies that joined us today represent just a glimpse of what our industries have to offer, and we hope this will spark lasting connections and meaningful business opportunities,” Trenggono said.
As a direct result of this b2b meeting and business matching event, Walter Villacencio, president & CEO of Instatech Inc., invited the Indonesian delegates, Hipelki and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, to visit his company and warehouse based in Davao City. Through this, a dialogue and networking have been built, and a hope for collaborative cooperation has been potentially engaged.
Indonesia has consistently ranked as the second largest import source for both Mindanao and the entire Philippines for over five consecutive years — a reflection of the complementary trade relationship between the two countries. This initiative marks a strategic effort to deepen that partnership by expanding collaboration into the health and medical technology sectors.
As part of its broader push for stronger economic diplomacy and regional engagement, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating more targeted, sector-specific cooperation between Indonesia and Mindanao in the future.
