“Think of us like an academy for metaverse Filipino workers,” Bianca Cruz, co-lead of Metaversity, said as she described the program’s mission to prepare Filipinos for emerging opportunities in the digital world.

Metaversity offers flexible learning through on-demand courses and intensive 10-week boot camps designed to equip learners with the skills needed to thrive in the metaverse and the broader digital landscape.

“In 10 weeks’ time, you can be confident to take on opportunities in the metaverse already or in the digital space,” Cruz said.

The program features four specialized career tracks: Templars, Stellars, Game Agents, and Sentinels.

“Those four tracks represent the most sought-after careers in technology,” she added. “It’s really not just limited to Web3 gaming, but also AI, also anything related to technology.”

Cruz also emphasized the significance of the Metaverse Filipino Workers (MFW) Caravan, an on-ground initiative that brings the movement closer to communities nationwide.

“The metaverse Filipino movement is really something that's close to our heart,” Cruz said. “We've been providing economic opportunities to Filipinos since the height of play-to-earn games, but we've evolved into so much more,” she added.

The MFW caravan, she said, provides opportunities and learning for people to enter the virtual space.

“Kahit hindi sila gamer, kahit hindi sila techie. And the reason why we're doing the MFW Caravan and visiting as many places nationwide is so that we can showcase the experience to people, bring it closer to them, and push them to go to us,” she said, emphasizing the difference between those who have experienced seeing them in person and talking to someone who knew about metaverse.

“It's a nice community-building way, and we also get to meet ambassadors and community leaders in cities like Davao so that we can continue to do this with them even after the MFW Caravan happens,” she added.

The initiative has gained the attention of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), with Evamay C. Dela Rosa, the regional director of DICT-Davao, expressing strong support for the MFW initiative. She also highlighted the shared mission between DICT and Metaversity.

“They are into innovation and promoting online opportunities, which aligns perfectly with DICT’s mission of fostering innovation and supporting online jobs,” Dela Rosa said. “It's not just about enjoying games — we also encourage creativity and innovation in game development as a pathway to employment.” By Aliah Trica C.
