PCIDC opens call for endorsement for Private Sector Seats

MANILA – The Philippine Creative Industries Development Council (PCIDC) has officially opened its call for endorsements, aiming to identify and onboard key representatives from the private sector to ensure a comprehensive representation in addressing the needs of the country’s creative sector.

Supervising Undersecretary of the Creative Industries Development Program Management Unit (CID-PMU), Rafaelita M. Aldaba, stated that the PCIDC, currently composed of leaders from ten government agencies with the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as the chairperson, is reaching out to business support organizations and creative workers associations to endorse professionals who have dedicated a decade or more to their specific creative industry domain.

“We're seeking nine industry leaders, each representing a distinct creative domain. Their insights and experiences will ensure that the PCIDC’s strategies are not only innovative but also grounded in the realities of the industry,” Aldaba emphasized.

As articulated in Section 4 of the Republic Act No. 11904, also known as the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), endorsements are currently sought for domains including (1) Audiovisual Media, (2) Digital Interactive Media, (3) Creative Services, (4) Design, (5) Publishing and Printed Media, (6) Performing Arts, (7) Visual Arts, (8) Traditional Cultural Expressions, and (9) Cultural Sites.

"With the creative industries bolstering our GDP by P1.60 trillion in 2022, the PCIDC stands at the forefront of nurturing our creative industries. Their mandate spans from strategic planning and policy-making to ensuring private sector involvement, amplifying global outreach, and strengthening the foundation of our creative sectors,” Aldaba added.

Other government agencies that form part of the Council include the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

The private sector can submit their endorsement until 9 September 2023. For more information on the endorsement process and the role of the PCIDC, stakeholders and interested parties are encouraged to visit https://sites.google.com/view/pcidc-call-for-endorsement. PR
