Samgyupsalamat!

Samgyupsalamat!

AMY said there's a Korean Resto nearby, the mere mention of Korean already grabbed my attention. That it was nearby removed all other arguments nor suggestions. We were in Manila, and I don't like going around Manila. I'd go anywhere where I can walk.

This one can't even be classified as a walk. Samgyupsalamat Unlimited Korean BBQ is right next door to Hotel Jen (former Traders) along Roxas Boulevard in Manila where we were billeted for the 22nd Civic Journalism Community Media Awards (where we win two of five awards, weeeee!).

We went early, 6 p.m. We were third in the waiting list, and I went: "People eat dinner earlier than 6???"

The place was full. But the lady manning the waiting list is good at what she does. So, no complaints. It's an all-day eating binge that starts at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and ends at 12 midnight for dinner, and you can eat the whole day if you want, there's no time limit.

They have two packages: No. 1 is all pork, five kinds. No. 2 is pork and beef, ten kinds, and the difference is P100 for lunch - P399 for all-pork and P499 for pork and beef; and P50 for dinner - P449 for pork and P499 for both. The leaf wrappers, appetizers, and steamed egg are unlimited.

And don't worry if you can no longer swallow that last serving of kimchi, they only count the meat for leftover charge.

We were more than satisfied except for... the kimchi and chili sauce are tweaked for the Filipino taste, it's not as spicy hot as I wanted them to be. But still very good.

Where? It's right beside Hotel Jen at the building where the 711 is. Go up, it's on the second floor. Go during off-hours because the waiting list can be long.
