CATHY Binag is someone who really exudes confidence. Who wouldn’t be considering her social status, beauty, and influence?

Judging from her looks, it is nothing new anymore when someone gets awed by her beauty. And when she starts belting out a popular song, you will definitely get more impressed.

Apart from her looks and talents, there is so much more to love about her. I would say there are a lot of reasons why her loved ones are proud of her.

As I learned more about Ms. Cathy, as how I and a number of people address her, I now understand why the people around her love her beyond words.

“Cathy Binag nothing really changed but I had been tested last 2017 with some challenges - however, it led me to the discovery that I am loved more than ever by the people who truly cares for us,” she quipped when I asked her how life has been to her lately.

When I requested her to describe her current mood, the successful chef-entrepreneur said, “More contented and happy.”

She explained that behind her happiness is God who is “always there for me to guide me in every way. You know sometimes people don’t understand why we have to go through pain, but in reality; it’s one of God's ways to guide us, to tell us what's real and what's not.”

Three years ago, I did an interview with her as well. That was the first time I “met” her online. With her humility, it was never difficult to write a feature about her. So, I asked her what she considers her biggest milestone since then.

“Wow! Yes every second may nangyayari sa buhay natin. Miracle happens, strange things happen, accidents, problems can happen in just a wink of an eye. But what's most important is no matter how hard life can be, we must keep enduring and maintain positivity. Kasi walang makakatulong sa’tin kung hindi sarili lang natin. Other people can only do so much for us. But in the end, ang magma-matter is kung ano tayo at paano tayo nakisama sa kapwa natin. Biggest milestone – to really fight for the one I love.”

Having witnessed Ms. Cathy’s kindness and generosity, especially when she immediately helped a mother whose son was suffering from a serious illness, I know that it is among the things that truly make her happy.

She validated this when she shared that it is her happiness “to see the people I love and care for happy and knowing that I can help in my own little way, even to strangers that need it the most.”

Amid her optimism, she is no saint as well, just like anybody else. There are things that trigger her anger.

“Simple. Hurt the one I love - my partner, my family and friends. I’m very loyal kasi I think loyalty is number 1 in any relationship dapat, di ba?”

Talking about her relationship with Cong. Tony Boy Floirendo, Ms. Cathy admitted that she is strict when it comes to it.

“Strict, number 1 enemy, but his soulmate and bestfriend. Strict with his health,” she said laughing.

“Kasi he is not getting any younger and if you really love the person, you will truly care kahit magalit pa siya sa’kin. He is like my younger son.”

She pointed out that their relationship is “not the pretentious type.”

“Walang arte, we can even fight infront of our friends. We are real normal people. Hindi kami mapagpanggap,” she said, as she revealed that she will protect him in any way she can, even if it will cost her life.

As someone who experienced some of life’s biggest odds, her advice is to offer everything to the Lord because “you can never go wrong with that.”

She also advised that before saying anything about someone, you must put your feet in her/his shoes. And yes, refrain from judging others.

For her, despite being known for her social status and as a successful owner of several businesses, she wants to be “that strong girl that everyone knew would make it through the worst. I want to be that fearless girl the one would dare to do anything without hurting anyone. I want to be that independent girl, who doesn’t need a man. I want to be that girl who never backed down - because life has knocked me down a few times, it showed me things I never wanted to see. I experienced sadness and failures. But one thing is for sure, I ALWAYS GET UP.”
