THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) bared that the suspect involved in the stabbing of a security guard at a large establishment in Barangay Lubogan, Toril, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, will face charges of frustrated murder.

The victim, 33-year-old Christopher (name withheld for privacy), lives in Purok 3, Lubogan, Toril. The suspect, 37-year-old Eddie, a tricycle driver, resides in Purok 6, Saypon, Crossing Bayabas, Toril, Davao City.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon revealed that investigators are exploring a possible jealousy motive. The suspect's wife, a lady guard at the same establishment, told authorities that her husband exhibits extreme jealousy toward anyone she interacts with, especially at work.

“As per information sa mga investigators sa wife sa suspect, seloso daw kaayo na bisan kinsa na lang ang selosan kung asa siya ma assign as lady guard then mao pud ang sulti sa mga kauban sa trabaho sa babae (According to the suspect's wife and her coworkers, he is very jealous of anyone she meets, no matter her assignment),” Tuazon clarified in a group chat with Davao media.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the suspect approached the victim and stabbed him twice in the upper left back. Despite the attack, the suspect stayed at the scene and waited to turn himself into responding police officers.

As of press time, the suspect is in police custody, while the victim is receiving medical treatment at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). DEF
