VERONICA "Kitty" Duterte urged her father’s supporters to stay positive, prioritize their health, and ignore negative stories about their family during an engagement on Sunday evening, March 23, 2025.
The youngest daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte personally addressed the crowd at their family home in Doña Luisa, Matina, Davao City, expressing gratitude and encouragement for their support and loyalty. She was also warmly welcomed by FPRRD’s supporters as she emphasized the importance of focusing on the upcoming elections.
"Wag na natin silang patulan. Doon na lang tayo bumawi sa eleksyon (Let’s not engage with them. We’ll just make it upin the elections),” Kitty said.
She acknowledged the support of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), who have organized prayer gatherings and protest rallies in different countries.
"Sa mga OFW, maraming-maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Malaking bagay ito para sa akin at sa pamilya ko kasi wala kaming hinihingi — dasal niyo lang at suporta, yun lang, okay na kami doon,” she added.
(To the OFWs, thank you so much. This means a lot to me and my family. We’re not asking for anything else — just your prayers and support, and that’s enough for us).
Kitty reiterated her family's goal of bringing her father back to Davao City, assuring supporters that their efforts will continue.
Meanwhile, in The Hague, Netherlands, Vice President Sara Duterte assured supporters that her father remains confident in his legal defense before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"The former president is confident he has no case to answer," Sara said during a gathering of supporters in Het Malieveld, The Hague, earlier this week.
She also provided an update on her father’s health, saying he is in better condition after appearing fatigued and dazed during his first ICC hearing.
"He's very confident about the legal arguments. He's very confident… that what they did was not wrong and that there is no case to begin with," she told the press.
Currently, the 79-year-old former president of the Philippines is facing charges of crimes against humanity related to his controversial war on drugs.
Duterte is also awaiting confirmation of charges hearing on September 23, 2025, where he will have the opportunity to contest the accusations against him. Cine Grace Languay, DorSU Intern
