NOWADAYS, it is only on rare occasions that Don Pagusara comes out from his booknook at home to grace literary events. It is opportune that he has agreed to welcome ANG GAMAY NGA PRINSIPE translated by Maria Cora Larobis to Davao City on the occasion of the Philippine Book Festival at SM Lanang.
A foremost cultural icon of Davao City and a multi-awarded poet, he will share his thoughts on local literature, language and the book on August 20, 6pm, at the BOOKTOPIA Activation Area, on the occasion of the Philippine Book Festival.
Literary students and bibliophiles eagerly await this event as many Davao-based cultural advocates have long been wanting to see and hear their adopted son Prof. Don Pagusara be named a national artist.
“With his long struggle to promote literature giving voice to grassroots Filipinos, I am awed by his words and works and I hope people of Davao come together to name him our People’s Choice for Literature,” says Norma Javellana, who marked her calendar to participate in the event.
