OVER the years, crystals have gained popularity among celebrities and personalities. Closely used in harmony with yoga, meditation, feng shui and the like, crystals are now being incorporated in our day-to-day life through wearable accessories, skincare and cosmetics, candles and essential oils, and more, with benefits aimed at achieving holistic healing. And it’s finally here in Davao City.
Davaoeños Jamaica “Maikee” Bulacito and her partner Iosef Alessandr Sinco are the brains and light behind "Love, Luna," one of the first crystals and wellness brands in Davao. The couple started selling crystals in June 2018. From a fledgling brand with just a few followers on Instagram, they now proudly share that they cater large orders to regular customers even outside of Davao. They credit their success to the powers of the crystals that for them, has helped brought not only luck and fortune to their business, but brighter love and light into their relationship as well.
But behind the success of Love, Luna, Maikee shares that it was a period of turmoil in her life that made her turn to crystals as a beacon of hope to overcome depression. Business came as an afterthought, she noted, as her own wellbeing was her top priority. Now 25 years old, Maikee recalls that difficulty in finding her path and passion in life was one of the root causes of her emotional distress, an ailment becoming more common amongst millennials, she noted. With a glimmer of hope, Maikee carefully hand-picked crystals and stones that she hoped would help guide her path. These are: tiger’s eye, citrine, garnet, tourmaline, and fluoride among others.
Six months later, the Love, Luna was born, and Maikee, with the support of Iosef, has found her path. With her light aura and considerably lower rate, Maikee has become a favorite of her loyal clients. She shares that she has also been dubbed as “healer,” where clients come to her for guidance in battling depression and other struggles in life. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Apart from the emotional healing and balance that crystal stones help bring, Maikee shares that stones are also largely helpful in battling illnesses as some stones are specifically meant to help with health problems related to the kidneys, throat, etc. She added that she does not just sell stones for the mere sake of selling but personally talks to each client to help them determine what they need.
“It’s a hands-on business. You are not just selling [crystal stones] for the sake of selling, but it has to be tailor-made for every client,” she said.
Love, Luna clients from outside of Davao vouched that Maikee’s hands-on treatment and ability to keep a professional yet emotionally intimate relationship with clients is what makes Love, Luna a hit in the business side of things.
