JUNIOR Chamber International (JCI) Davao, a community of young citizens that engage in community development activities, is organizing a speed dating activity in time for the love month.
The speed dating activity does not only aim to find single people their “forever,” but also to raise funds for the JCI’s community development activities.
To be held on February 23, at Upstairs Rooftop Bar + Kitchen in Maa, Davao City, with a ticket price of P500 inclusive of dinner and a beer or cocktail, the dating event is intended to help 50 males find their match.
However, the organizer, through their Vice President for Business Opportunity Gerald Lo, acknowledges the apprehensions of those who have heard of their activity.
“Ang iba kasi nahihiya sila, kasi baka sabihing desperado or desperada, ganun,” Lo said.
But he emphasized that may they be encouraged to join this event not only to find a date in the season of love but to enjoy the moment as well as to be able to help others thru this fundraising activity to help the poor communities.
He also said that they chose this activity because of its uniqueness which they think could generate interest among single, young professionals, or the millennials, in Davao City, which in return could also generate funds for their community activities.
In a data provided by a US-based research, Gallup Daily, it stated that there are more millennials who are single compared to any other generations when they were the age that millennials are now.
According to the same study, 36 percent Generation X'ers, 48 percent Baby Boomers, and 65 percent Traditionals have already married when they were the age that millennials are now, while only 20 percent millennials, aged 18 to 35 years old are already married.
This is partly due to millennials are busier and career-driven individuals, who put love life at the sidelines.
This dating activity might be a good life-changer for busy people. If not, then try to look at it as helping others through fundraising the activities for the communities that need our help. (PR)
