THE Davao Region VII of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles, the first Philippine-born socio-civic organization which aims to help the needs of society and humanity, in collaboration with Aboitiz Company and Cenro Davao held its mandatory annual Mangrove Planting last June 23 at Aboitiz Cleanergy Park at Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City.
The activity is in line with the culmination of Eagles Week 2023 which is celebrated every 3rd week of June. The eight-hectare Biodiversity Park is a nesting ground of the various aviary, marine, flora, fauna, and critically endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle. The mangrove planting initiated awareness of the care for the environment and the ill effects of environmental pollution on nature.
Joining the event was Mr.Fermin Edillon, Davao Light’s reputation Enhancement Department Head who gave an intensive orientation and the park’s physical plant before the actual mangrove planting. Regional officers and members, representing the eight clubs namely, Davao Olympus Eagles Club, Davao Pillars Eagles Club, Cabantian Metro Davao Eagles, Davao Waling-Waling Tagatugon Eagles Club, Davao Malagos Eagles Club, Davao Prime Builders
Eagles Club, Davao Lemurians Eagles Club, and Davao Optima Eagles Club took part in this noble cause spearheaded by the latter. DRVII Governor Nicko Camporedondo showed his optimism about the activity and expressed that may this mangrove planting activity will be done on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to solidify our collaboration with Aboitiz and Cenro and show solidarity in the conservation efforts of these private and governmental agencies.
Davao Optima Eagles Club Frans MazChang proposed to come up with a Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies for a lasting partnership for the furtherance of the conservation efforts and the continuity of the development of the park.
