THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), Center Against Illegal Drugs (CAID)-Drug Hotline Program conducted a seminar entitled "Embracing a Drug Free World and Starting it Right: SBO Leaders as Frontliners against Illegal Drugs" last September 1 at the AdDU Community Center Media Room.

The aim of the seminar is to raise awareness among youth leaders of the hidden harm of drug addiction. SBO leaders when equipped with the proper knowledge and skills can use their powers to influence the youth to say no to drugs and to educate those who are drug abusers that drugs can hurt them and everyone else.

The informative resource speakers were Apple Alvarez, Lunar Fayloga, Nicole Tabar, Cullen Sorossa and Lejaen Star Ledda. Topics like the role of spirituality in drug addiction recovery, effects of flaka, rape drugs, love and addiction were the major topics. Over all, the sessions have motivated the SBO leaders to consider it a moral responsibility to seriously be good role models to the youth.

The whole day activity was full of fun and learning. Every attendee were asked to take part during the role playing which facilitated their understanding how damaging the use of illegal drugs is.

The organizers were also youth-like and good facilitators. Schools that participated were from Ateneo de Davao University - Junior Highschool, Brokenshire Highschool, Leon Garcia Sr. National Highschool, Our Lady of Fatima, Philippine Women's College, Rizal Memorial Colleges, Samson Polytechnic Colleges, Sta. Ana National Highschool, and Tagum Doctors College.

The seminar ended with a closing remark given by Roawie Quimba, the Director of CAID. Quimba hopes that this is not the end of the relationship between CAID and SBO participants and that both will work as one in the fight against illegal drugs.

Thank you SBO leaders. Continue to help fight against illegal drugs! And you all started it right!
