Dear Dr. Fritz,

Good day! I am having a problem with recall every day. I often forgot where I placed my keys and my bag. It has been happening so often that this worries me a lot. What should I do? Please help.

Thanks a lot.

Dear Quitchy Beech,

There are some things you can do to improve your recall. Here are some quick tricks.

1. Organize or reorganize a bit

If you have items that you often misplace, put them in the same spot. You can install a key hook or a cell phone charging station – so that these items would have their dedicated places. And you can get to them in a breeze.

2. Write them

Track your schedule for the day by writing them down. You can also write the things that you need to do for the day or even the things that you want to buy. Writing them will help you on your toes to remember them.

3. Check your calendar or datebook

Write down on them your meetings, appointments, events, and everything else. And before you go to bed, check on them to help you keep up with your events.

4. Play with words

I know that passwords are so hard to remember. So, be sure to come up with an easy to recall words that are important to you. For instance, you love Christmas day last 2012. So, go for XM2012.

5. Repeat, repeat, repeat always.

From names you just met or an address that you need to go to or anything that you need to do – keep on repeating them to help them get to your memory a lot better.

But, since we are running out of space this time, let me continue this in my next issue. Until then!
