FOR every event we host there should be a touch of our personality, the design and theme shall represent our identity.

There may be a lot of event organizers born here and there in the city, each promising grandiose and extravagance but no matter how grand their promises are, everything still lies on how unique it is from their other works.

With Krishael’s Events and Concepts, I have personally witnessed the distinctiveness of their ideas, execution, and of course, affordability.

Awed by the result of their creativity and exceptional talent, it is definitely interesting to know their story.

Owners Ish and John Michael Montenegro shared how funny their beginning was.

"It’s funny how it all started with a gown. As a woman, and a bride at that, I wanted my gown to be unique and special. And so I found this well-known bridal shop here in Davao which sells RTW gowns. Luckily I found one that I really liked but I was a bit hesitant because RTW gowns are usually replicated and I wanted mine to be one of a kind,” Ish recalled.

With the owner’s assurance that it would not be replicated and sold to others, Ish bought it. That promise was never kept, though.

“As I was organizing my daughter’s birthday last January 2018, I went by their shop again to look for some gowns. But when I went there, I saw the very same gown that I paid for. Apparently it’s available for rent and I wouldn’t be the very first woman to wear it by the time of my wedding,” she said.

Feeling disappointed and cheated on, the 35-year-old start-up realized something so important.

“As a devoted customer, the last thing I wanted to feel was to be cheated on and lied to. I realized that any person shouldn’t go through what I went through regardless of their standing in life or how much they earn,” she said.

Being part of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-College of International Relations and as a former student council president, organizing events is nothing new to her, thus, she knows what it’s like to be on all sides of the spectrum; as an organizer, supplier, coordinator and an audience.

“This was my forte, my comfort zone. That’s why I put up Krishael’s Events & Concepts last March 27, 2018, she pointed out, adding that “People deserve a type of service that keeps true to its promises.”

Her first event, a wedding, proved her commitment: to deliver a unique package without having to spend so much.

“I wanted to capture the market in all levels so I introduced the 99K all in package. It was an opening promo which included the food, venue, accommodation, church and reception decoration, bridal gown, groom’s tux, entourage’s outfits, wedding essentials, full coordination, basic sounds and lights, bride’s hair and make-up, host, cake, wine, invitations, bridal car... the works!”

Since it was the first dibs, such package is already worth P129,000 now. Very affordable still!

“Customers may also opt for add-ons should they have more budget.

It might sound ridiculous. Some may even think it’s a scam or a joke but it’s anything but that! I wanted to give my clients and customers an unforgettable experience for the best price,” Ish stressed.

When asked for her competitive edge, Ish was quick in saying that it’s her business approach, which is driven by her strong personality and passion in events organizing.

“We live in an age where convenience means luxury. But I beg to differ. Sometimes it’s about being smart and resourceful in the way you handle things. With Krishael’s Events and Concepts, you get convenience, quality and heart all under one roof,” she noted.

“As regards my business approach, I provide events solutions to all types of markets with my packages which clients can customize according to their needs and choice of suppliers.”

Being a newbie in the industry, Ish gets a lot of raised eyebrows. She even recalled one veteran who questioned her affordable introductory package to the point of tagging it as a baloney deal on Facebook.

“It was a destructive testimonial which I considered as an attack not just to me but to my suppliers. I told you how much I value loyalty right? So I wanted to protect my suppliers because my business doesn’t only reflect me as a person and an entrepreneur, but of my suppliers’ quality of work, too.”

And they deserve a good kind of reputation as hard-workers. And so I made a post of my own, indicating my suppliers and their services. I even invited the veteran to attend our supplier’s meeting for his/her peace of mind.

As a tangible proof of her and her suppliers’ commitment, the celebration of her daughter’s first birthday was more than enough to leave everyone in awe. The details of the fairy tale-like event has honestly left me with nothing but admiration for her team.

“Organizing my first daughter’s birthday was a roller-coaster ride. I can’t say that it wasn’t challenging. As head coordinator I had difficulty giving time to my visitors during the event because I had to be on top of everything else,” she disclosed.
