MANlalakbay: The enchanted world of Rainforest Lumina

IT WAS illuminating to have experienced the Southeast Asia’s first interactive multimedia night walk at a wildlife park - Rainforest Lumina.

Singapore Zoo has this thing of innovating and experimenting things making sure visitors have always something new and exciting to look forward to. Its newest attraction, made by the Wildlife Reserves Singapore and Moment Factory, is this “lush and luminous universe” – a whole new world from Singapore Zoo’s morning scene.

Launched on July 1, 2018 and will run until February 9, 2019, Rainforest Lumina invites tourists into a whimsical one-kilometer trail experience inside the zoo’s tropical rainforest that has installations and interactive zones.

Inside this magical world are the members of the playful and adventurous Creature Crew, a bunch of fun creatures including Orangutan, Flying Fox, Sloth, Chameleon, Asian small-clawed otter, Pangolin, Hornbill, and Tiger cub.

The night walk has 11 zones, four of which are interactive: Sing Like an Animal; Call of the Wild; Play Like an Animal; and Wall of Fame. All will surely bring out the child in you that has always been there.

The Sing Like an Animal zone (my favorite!) allows visitors to sing and shout their hearts out together on a microphone to create a magic – making the Creature Crew visible from the jungle. Don’t worry, your voice quality does not matter, visitors are in all equal footing (haha).

If you’re into a visual narrative show, the Call of the Wild zone is for you. This zone tells how the Creature Crew bands together in times of adversity to overcome all challenges and protect the jungle.

Make fun at the Play Like an Animal zone where guests can literally jump on sensors to make the Creature Crew jump too. It can be a little bit exhausting but enjoyable.

Lastly, end your journey at the Wall of Fame zone where you can take a picture and leave a photo memory with your Creature Crew friend.

Rainforest Lumina is open every night from 7:30 to 10:30 at 22 Singapore dollars per adult, and 16 Singapore dollars for every child aged 3 to 12.
