ONE thing in common about celebrities Heart Evangelista and Tessa Prieto-Valdes is their love for a Dabawenya designer. They both wear Steffy de Mylo.
Heart Evangelista could be in designer clothes every time you see her on TV or in her vlogs. But, you might have not just noticed her wearing the designs of a Dabawenya.
Heart has not only worn one but several designs of Steffy Misoles-Dacalus, the Davao City-based designer.
According to Stef, they met in a fashion event here. Since then, they have already been in constant contact with each other, especially on Instagram, where the designer posts all of her creations.
"When time na sa photo op, I had a brief chat with her. Ana siya, 'I love what you're wearing. I noticed the moment you sat.' Perte nakong lipaya (I got so happy). That was the aim,” she recalled about their first encounter.
“When I said that I'm a designer, mao na to, I gave her my business card and the rest is history,” she added.
Steffy’s designs have gone to places as Heart would bring them to her trips abroad and became part of her OOTDs. Heart has a number of Steffy’s designs – from shoes to clothes.
Meanwhile, Tessa made the Dabawenya designer a part of a major milestone in her life – her 15th wedding anniversary.
Steffy narrated that through a client based in Canada, she met Tessa.
“Siya man gikuha na endorser sa product niya [Canada-based client]. And timing nga 15th wedding anniversary nila sa iyang bana. Gi-recommend ko (I was recommended),” she said. “Mao to gitawagan ko niya (She called me up). Ana pa sya: ‘The stars have all aligned for you’.”
Steffy was then asked to meet the couple at the residence at Forbes Park.
“Abi nako’g sa cafe or restaurant lang,” Steffy shared about her first meeting with Tessa who asked her to design a suit for her husband.
According to Steffy, she kept on praying about carving her own name in the fashion industry. God surely heard her. All of these good things happened shortly before Steffy turned 40 years old.
At present, this Davao pride has continuously been creating designs for different clients. Of course, these include those that meet the taste of Heart and Tessa.
