Mendoza: Fashion school opens in Davao

ARE you into fashion and design? Do you want to improve your skills? Well, a new fashion school is here in Davao to help you.

Argie Paul Irenea and Xioti Chiu have worked together to open the Institute of Fashion and Creative Arts (IFCA) last June 8, with the mission to bring out the best in everyone, making them competitive in the international fashion Industry.

As the school helps students foster creativity, it is likewise their aim to develop their entrepreneurial skills through the latest trends, technology and direct graduates to right networks, while cultivating Mindanao’s fashion ethics.

“Working hard for something we don’t care about is meaningless, but working hard for something we love is called passion,” Irenea, the school’s chief executive officer and president, said.

“Teaching is my passion, opening a school is something divine, but it is what I ever wanted and dreamt of,” Chu, IFCA’s managing director, noted.

Chu, who is one of the designers of Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2018 Jehza Mae Huelar, added that with IFCA, he can share more of his own learnings, skills and even the most critical values in fashion and design.

Aside from having a world-class designer as one of IFCA’s mentors, what is also good with them is that their courses have no age restrictions.

“People who love fashion can do more. IFCA will help and polish their weaknesses and strengths on the courses we offer,” Chu said.

When asked how optimistic they are with this new endeavor, the two were quick to quip: “Fortune favors the bold.”

With their passion and commitment coupled with undeniable superb skills, there is no doubt IFCA will be producing someday a new breed of fashion designers and great talents in the country’s fashion industry.

If you want to be part of IFCA’s pioneering batch of students, they are still accepting enrollees. You may visit them at Door 1, 3F Vilmers Building, McArthur Highway, Matina (just near Shrine Hills). They can be reached, too, at mobile number 09458395477.

Among the courses they offer are Fashion Design, Garment Production, and Garment Merchandising.

Classes will start on July 2.
