MTE 2023: Buy local, support MSMEs

If you are looking for things to gift loved ones or just simply enjoy and support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) this Araw ng Dabaw, head to Mindanao Trade Expo (MTE) 2023, located at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Abreeza, Davao City and see what you are missing!

We went around the expo and here are five things we think you might want to buy when you find yourself here:

Yvette Bags and Beads Collections

Yvette Marie Celi Punzalan, owner of Yvettes Bags and Beads Collections, shared that their products are worth to have because of its functionality. The bags, she said, are durable since it’s made out of plastic straws. She also uses her own creativity to come up with designs. Prices of her products range from P800.00 to P3,000, which makes it as a perfect souvenir or gift item.

DTI Davao Occidental

Jingoy Medel, the seller of baskets made out of bamboo sticks from DTI Davao Occidental, said that their products are intricately made.

“Our price varies from P200 to P800 and we don’t just base it from the item itself, we also consider the efforts of our workers since we offer customized designs,” he added.

Roby's Milk and Dark Chocolate

Roby from Roby’s Milk and Dark Chocolate is proud of his chocolate products perfect for those who want to satisfy their sweet cravings. Roby’s Milk and Dark Chocolate was originally based in Kapalong, representing DTI Davao del Norte. Price starts from P35.00 to P250.00 depending on the size per pack.

Maranao Native Product

Norjannah, the owner and seller of linens from Maranao Native Product, shared that their items are handwoven. She said what's special about their products is each designs have a story and meaning representing their culture. Price is not lesser than P900.00 and not greater than P3,500, depending on the quality and design.

Cagangohan Women’s Association of Panabo

The Cagangohan Women’s Association of Panabo City from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI also joins the MTE 2023. Composed of 50 women workers, the association sells five different varieties of milkfish products as viands and sell it from P100.00 to P150.00. Assisted by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the association is in their 14 years this year.
