MEMBERS of JCI Durian City, or popularly known as the "Durcees", went to Siargao Island, the surfing capital of the Philippines on August 31, 2018 to attend and witness one of the most prestigious events of Junior Chamber International - the 38th Mindanao Area Conference (MAC) held at General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
MAC is an annual event where JCI members unite and expand their impact through dynamic workshops, trainings and programs, with a goal to inspire global collaboration for a better world.
The event was highlighted by a Public Speaking and Debate Competition and the much anticipated Ms. JCI Area V Surf for Five.
Gorgeous candidates from different JCI chapters competed and outshone each other during the candidate's production number. Crowds packed the General Luna Gymnasium as each candidate showcased their swimsuits, evening gowns and of course, the Q & A Portion.
JCI Durian City candidate Jeraldin Pedroza won the Ms. Popularity title and was awarded 2nd runner- up. The friendly competition was not just a venue for beauty, but also the beauty of the heart.
More highlights include The Agung Gawad Mindanao Awards 2018 where JCI Durian City received a merit award for Best Civic Involvement Program (Tulay para sa Kabataan Kaigsoonang Badjao Tabangan, Amumahon ang ilang Nutrition) and won an Agung Award for the Best JCI week celebration 2018.
Indeed, it was a successful adventure. JCI Durian City would like to thank JCI Surigao Nickel, JCI Surigao Wensie and JCI Zamboanga La Bella for hosting the event.
