MORE than its trademark warm hospitality, the Philippines is also globally known for its distinct cuisine. With this known, the “Kaon Ta!” program, a widely-diverse culinary culture all over the country, creates awareness and interest in distinct Filipino cuisine and tourism destinations.

Dabawenyos were treated to a gastronomic extravaganza like no other. Foodies and travelers alike were delighted with a wide array of local cuisine, including exotic authentic recipes as presented by the Davao Region's prominent local chefs to be tasted by the special guests invited at the Department of Tourism’s Kaon Ta launch, a food and travel festival by the Department of Tourism - Philippines in partnership with Ayala Malls held at Abreeza Mall Activity Center last December 7 to 9, 2018.

The Davao leg of this nationwide festival showcases farm tourism sites, food destinations, and travel agencies and local tour operators that promote sustainable travel in the region.

The celebration of homegrown cuisine gathers local chefs, dishes, products, and farm tourism in a three-day line-up featuring selling booths, talks by experts, demos and sampling, among other activities.

The event was graced by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte, president and CEO of Ayala Corporation, Mr. Jaime Agusto Zobel de Ayala, and Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Payat of the Department of Tourism who gave a detailed information about the “Kaon Ta” project.
