A VEHICULAR accident along Diversion Road in Maa, Davao City around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, resulted in a "domino effect" causing heavy traffic that lasted for almost three hours.
In a sketch report from the Maa Police Station, it was reported that six trucks and five private cars were involved in the collision.
Due to the impact of the collision, some passengers and drivers were taken to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). As of writing, the Maa Police have not yet released the names of the victims and their medical status.
According to the Maa Police, the vehicular accident resulted in "multiple serious physical injuries with damage to properties," and every single vehicle is being investigated.
A video posted by netizen Josen Damaso showed what happened to 11 cars that seems to only happen in a movie.
According to the preliminary investigation by the Traffic Section of the Maa Police, one of the 11 vehicles was the first to lose its brakes causing it to crash into the car in front.
Since the traffic was slow at that time, the collision spread to other vehicles.
The big trucks that were in the same row bumped into other trucks near them, causing other vehicles to lose direction as they avoided them, which created a domino effect.
The 911 ambulance immediately responded for initial medical treatment to the victims. However, the victims were taken to SPMC a few minutes later.
The uninjured drivers of the vehicles involved are temporarily detained at the Maa Police for investigation and proper disposition.
However, the freak vehicular accident, although caused several vehicular damage, did not result in any casualties. Thus the police reminded motorists anew to drive carefully to avoid accidents.
The traffic flow in the area has started to normalize around 2 p.m. JPC
