DAVAO DEL NORTE — On Tuesday evening, September 5, 2023, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera captured three men robbing a jewelry shop and two automated teller machines (ATMs) inside a Tagum City mall.

The Tagum City Police Station provided an update on the incident on Friday, September 8. Initial investigations confirmed the involvement of three unidentified individuals. The police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects, but they have made progress in tracing potential locations associated with them.

Reportedly, the trio stole jewelry valued at P9 million and cash amounting to P4,300,079 after forcibly entering a renowned Tagum City mall through the rear entrance.

The Tagum Police Office received a call about the burglary at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6.

P/Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Latayada, the station commander of the Tagum Police, promptly led a response team to the scene. During interviews with mall employees, including one referred to as Jojo, they discovered a hole in the basement leading directly into the jewelry store.

Further investigation revealed that the thieves also cracked open three safes, emptying them of their valuable contents.

Additionally, the burglars targeted two ATMs owned by prominent banks. One machine held over P4 million in cash, while the other was temporarily out of service and contained no money.
