THE Commission on Election-Davao Region (Comelec-Davao) and the Philippine Regional Office-Davao (PRO-Davao) jointly announced that they are closely monitoring at least eight areas of concern in preparation for the 2023 Barangay Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

During an AFP-PNP Press Corps forum, the top officials of these regional government agencies revealed that they had conducted a press conference earlier in the week to intensify their monitoring efforts in these specific areas across different provinces in the region. These identified areas fall under the "yellow" code category.

The Comelec has implemented a color-coding scheme to classify various areas within the Davao region. These color codes indicate the election-related conditions in each area: yellow (a history of election-related incidents), green (peaceful with no history of poll incidents), orange (presence of armed groups), and red (critical areas).

“We have eight barangays under yellow, and these are from Davao del Sur, Davao del Sur, and Davao City,” lawyer Gay Enumerables, Comelec-Davao assistant regional director, said.

However, PRO-Davao spokesperson Catherine Dela Rey clarified that they have yet to finalize the areas of concern list before making it public.

“As of now dili pa sa namo ihatag ang final details kay lisod pud kung di ni sya i-finalize. Kailangan pa syay approval from Comelec (As of now, we cannot provide the final details because it will be challenging if it is not finalized. We still need approval from Comelec)," she said.

According to Comelec data, there are 9,558 cluster precincts in the region, with two police personnel assigned to each polling place or school for security measures.

“It is enough but we also need volunteers. But as per count, enough na ang personnel for polling places yun naman kase yung standard operating procedure natin in every previous election (The personnel for polling places are sufficient based on our standard operating procedure in previous elections)," the PRO spokesperson said.
