Ambulance runs over pedestrian

AN AMBULANCE driver turned himself before the police authorities after he hit a pedestrian while responding to a call in Nabunturan town in Compostela Valley province on Saturday, June 9.

Police identified the suspect as Lito Braga Naïve, 46, a driver of an ambulance owned by the Nabunturan Municipality and resident of the same town. The victim was Rogelio Pelares.

Report obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) Davao Region showed that the incident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday at Purok 4 national highway in Barangay Linda.

The white KIA K2700 4x2 HSPUR ambulance owned by the Municipality of Nabunturan took off from Purok 9 Poblacion off to Barangay Sibonga, Nabunturan to respond to an emergency call when it hit the victim who was crossing the road.

The victim was declared dead at Cabrera Memorial Hospital. Naïve and the ambulance are currently at the custody of the Nabunturan Municipal Police Station. (ICT)
