Bakunahang Bayan starts in Davao City

The Davao City Health Office (CHO), in partnership with the Department of Health, launched the three-day Bakunahang Bayan at the Tomas Claudio Health Center on Monday, December 5, 2022.

CHO Vaccination Cluster Head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Department of Health (DOH) Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, DOH Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah Dumama, Department of Health Regional Director Annabelle Yumang, and CHO healthcare workers joined the ceremonial vaccination in line with the Bakunahang Bayan event at the same health center.

Before the ceremonial vaccination, Vergeire spoke before Davao City employees at the Flag raising ceremony and said Dabawenyos are highly encouraged to participate in the Bakunahang Bayan that intends to increase the booster vaccination rate in the city.

“Dito sa Davao ang naka-receive ng booster ay 25 percent palang siguro dito po tayo magtulong tulong para maitaas natin ang antas ng ating pagbabakuna sa ating lugar (Here in Davao City, only 25 percent received booster doses, maybe we should cooperate in this to increase the rate of those who got boosters),” Vergeire said.

Based on the Regional Data on Booster doses, 25 percent is equivalent to 331,999 individuals.

She, however, congratulated Davao City for achieving 101 percent for the first and second booster doses.

Vergeire assured that the vaccines used and issued by CHO are within their shelf lives and not expired.

Villafuerte said that district offices and Abreeza Mall will participate in the three-day intensified vaccination.

“Akong gina-awhag ang tanang taga Davao City nga kung wala pamo naka first dose and second dose booster kamo ug inyong mga anak nga five years old and above to please come to the health center because we will have vaccination today lahat starting today until December 7. (I am urging everyone in Davao City, those who were not able to get their first dose, second dose and booster, for you and your children - five years old and above - to come to the health centers because we will have vaccination starting today until December 7),” Villafuerte said in an interview on Monday.

She added that while the Bakunahang Bayan will run for three days only, vaccination is available when scheduled in district centers. The schedule is posted on the City Government of Davao's Facebook Page.

Vaccination is also available at Abreeza mall's 3rd floor, Food Choice, from December 5 to 9.

“There will also be weekend vaccination, Saturday and Sunday at People’s Park,” Villafuerte added. CIO
