KIDAPAWAN CITY - Authorities suspect a family feud as the motive behind an early morning explosion involving a grenade at 1:10 a.m. on Monday, August 14, in Kabacan, Cotabato.

The blast injured three individuals: Wadzere Anoc Salasal, 48; his wife, Norma, 50; and their six-year-old grandson, Amanie. All are residents of Sitio Lumayong in Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan.

According to Colonel Harold Ramos, director of the Cotabato Provincial Police Office, two unidentified men hurled a grenade at the store where the victims were sleeping before immediately escaping toward Maguindanao del Sur.

Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO-Kabacan) responded promptly to the scene, and the injured victims were swiftly transported to a hospital. All three victims are currently in critical condition.

Responding to the incident, the 33rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team of the Philippine Army arrived at the site, recovering the safety lever and pin of the MK2 fragmentation grenade and another grenade that failed to detonate.

The Kabacan Municipal Police Station is still investigating the incident. EEF
