A POLICE officer was arrested by his colleagues after he was caught stealing from a police trainee, identified as Patrolwoman Rhealen Aure of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course.
The suspect, identified as Police Corporal John Francis Casicnan detailed at Mati City Police Station in Davao Oriental, is facing theft and Comelec Gun Ban violation cases.
Based on police report, around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, the suspect went inside the female Ron-Ron Barracks of the Regional Training Center 11 when he was caught on the act by his colleagues stealing P5,000 cash from the victim.
“Sinamantala niya na may okasyon, nag-attend siya ng recognition event kanina sa RTC-11, kung saan walang tao ang mga rooms, nasa recognition lahat. Kaya niya ito pinasok, pero biglang bumalik itong biktima at kanyang mga kasamahan kaya siya nahuli,” Police Major Ricky Obenza, chief of police at Tugbok Police Station said during an interview by dxAB 1296 Radyo Patrol.
When Casicnan was arrested, he immediately hid the money amounting to P6,000, believed to also be stolen, beneath the chair.
Police at the Tugbok PNP are still conducting investigation to determine who else were victimized by Casicnan.
Casicnan, however, did not yet air his side.
