A WOMAN was arrested after she was caught in the act of selling x-rated DVDs in Panabo City last Saturday, June 1, 2019.
Based on the Police Regional Office (PRO) Northern Mindanao report, around 11:30 a.m., one alias Romana, 28, of Purok Centro 1, Narra Street in Barangay Jose P. Laurel, Panabo City was caught in the act of selling pornographic DVDs. Together with Panabo City Police Station and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao del Norte, the suspect was arrested during the conduct of Oplan Magdalena and Oplan Mega Shopper at the Panabo City Public Market in Barangay New Pandan for violating the Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code.
Recovered from the suspect were 35 pieces of pornographic DVDs which she brazenly displayed along the sidewalk.
The suspect is tagged as the biggest supplier of pornographic DVDs in the city.
“We do not want our minors to be influenced with this kind of offensive material. According to some studies, early exposure (by age 14) to pornography and other explicit material may increase the risk of a child becoming a victim of sexual violence or acting out sexually against another child and we do not want this to happen to our children,” PRO Northern Mindanao director Brigadier General Marcelo Morales said.
The suspect is currently detained at the Panabo City Police Station while the case in court is being prepared against her.
