The Araw ng Davao, Ironman 70.3, and several conventions, which are all happening in March, are a key factor in reaching March’s tourist arrivals target as hotels and inns are almost fully booked as of the present, according to a Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) official.

Jennifer Romero, CTOO officer-in-charge, said during the i-Speak Media Forum at the Davao City Hall on March 9, that with big events happening in the city, more tourists are coming in to visit and enjoy the festivities. This reflects in the hotel occupancy of the city that “almost reached a hundred percent” as reported by hotel owners.

“In fact, based on the reports from our hotels, occupancy is really, really well, with almost a hundred percent [hotel occupancy] for the entire March,” Romero said.

“That is very good feedback that is coming from our stakeholders,” she added.

With the data from city hotels, Romero said it means that Davao City will reach or even beat its target of 150,000 to 250,000 tourist arrivals for March 2023.

“We will remain steadfast with our target for the month of March that we will be hitting more than the same number of tourist arrivals based on the banner number in 2019 which was 150 to 250,000 arrivals for this month of March,” Romero said.

Aside from Micecon 2023, Araw ng Davao and Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao Leg, CTOO is also currently preparing for the National Convention for Prosecutors' League of the Philippines which will happen on March 27 to 30.

Romero said CTOO assures everyone that they are putting up well-thought and well-planned events here in Davao City, two years after the pandemic hit the world. ICE
