THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has identified and started its investigation on the person of interest in the rape-slay of a 12-year-old girl in Toril, Davao City.
“Ginapaningkamutan sa Eden Police Station nga makakuha og affidavit sa mga witnesses para sa person of interest nato nga mapasakahan og kaso (The Eden police station is doing its best to get this affidavit from the witnesses against the person of interest for us to be able to file the case),” Major Catherine dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson, said in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio on December 9, 2022.
Dela Rey said they hope to get the affidavit this week.
“Ginapaningkamutan namo nga masulbad ning kaso kay para matagaan of hustisya ang biktima ug iyahang pamilya (We are doing our best to resolve this case to bring justice to the victim and her family,” Dela Rey said.
On December 4, 2022, the body of the 12-year-old victim was found at a creek's edge in Purok 5, Sitio Malacombeng, Barangay Sibulan, Toril District in Davao City.
Her clothing had been removed and she had a bruise on her neck. There was also blood on her genitals.
Eden Police Station Commander Police Major Jonnel Bonguyan said that according to preliminary evidence, the victim attended a festival and asked her parents to allow her to sleep at her grandfather's house on Saturday, December 3.
The victim left her grandfather's house the next morning to return home. However, a few hours later, the girl was found dead around 300 meters from her grandfather's house.
With a bruise on her neck, authorities believed that she may have been strangled to death.
