Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao spokesperson Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz said the order was issued after two unidentified rebels reportedly fired at an army detachment at Purok Madasigon, Barangay Marayag in Lupon around 5:45 p.m. last Friday, April 27.
Initial investigation conducted by the Lupon Municipal Police Station revealed the rebels prepositioned at North East of Marayag before they fired at the detachment of the Army's 72nd Infantry Battalion with their caliber 5.56 M16 rifle at Madasigon.
No casualty was reported on the government side while the troops of the Army's 28th Infantry Battalion who went to the area to give support to 72nd IB recovered seven 5.56 cartridges.
Driz said all police station commanders in Davao Oriental were ordered to supervise their personnel related to the successive harassment by the communist rebels and their Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion in the province.
"All police personnel were told to be extra cautious and not lower their guard in providing security in the province. They were also directed to conduct aggressive checkpoints and intensify their intelligence monitoring," Driz said.
