THE Department of Science and Technology-Davao Region (DOST-Davao) recognized Cheri-lou Rabanoz Aranjuez Wedding and Events (CRAWE) Management as the best Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) adopter among five contenders in the Davao Region. CRAWE is a fashion enterprise owned by Cheri-lou Aranjuez which is located in Davao de Oro and specializes in the production of attires and fashion items fused with local textiles in Davao de Oro.

To expand the enterprise’s product lines and services, Aranjuez availed of SETUP where she was provided with several trainings and a set of equipment amounting to more than three million pesos which significantly impacted the growth of her business.

From one employee, CRAWE added 20 more employees and expanded its market outside of Davao de Oro which now serves the national and international market. The firm also recorded an increase of 946.37 percent in net sales from 2017 to 2022, further highlighting the impact of SETUP on the firm.

The firm also impacts employment in the local community as it markets Yakan Fabric, Inaul Fabric, Hinabul Fabric, and Dagmay Fabric which are handwoven designs by ethnic groups in Davao de Oro, Basilan, and Abra.

According to Aranjuez, the enterprise also preserves the rich heritage of indigenous communities which is showcased in her creations. She also advocates for the sustainability of her enterprise by creatively repurposing leftover materials and employing a responsible waste disposal and efficient waste management system.

Aranjuez received P20,000 through DOST-Davao and will compete nationally among all other Regional Best SETUP contenders. PR
