DCPO bares successful drive against `bora-bora’

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) bared on Monday, August 28, 2023, the successful confiscation of "bora-bora" (modified muffler) and other disruptive motorcycles from August 20 to 26. 

According to the DCPO report, 383 operations were conducted, issuing 76 citation tickets and collecting a sum of P38,400. Additionally, they seized 15 temporary operator's permits, impounded seven motorcycles, and gathered P85,000 in fines.

In line with the provisions of RA 4136, special laws governing land transportation and traffic rules, including establishing a land transportation commission, the DCPO carried out 281 operations, issuing 337 temporary operator's permits, and with a total fine collection of P861,510.

Furthermore, enforcing C.O. 0334-12, a total of 607 operations led to the issuance of 2,423 citation tickets and the collection of fines totaling P1,167,600.

DCPO's collective efforts resulted in the collection of P2,152,510 in fines from all violators.

A modified muffler is attached to a vehicle and designed to amplify sound. 

According to the proposed law, no motor vehicle should be driven without a functioning muffler or noise-dissipative device capable of preventing excessive noise. The vehicle's exhaust system and engine components must be equipped to control noise emissions. DEF
