DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio visited four different vaccination sites in the city on Friday morning, August 27, 2021, to express her gratitude to medical frontliners and the private sector who support the city’s vaccination program.

In a post from the City Government of Davao Facebook page, the mayor was shown visiting SM Lanang vaccination site, Buhangin Central Elementary School, the Marino Partylist Vaccination Program at the Matina Town Square (MTS), and Matina Aplaya Central Elementary School vaccination site.

Duterte-Carpio expressed her gratitude to all the health and non-health frontlines, partner government agencies and private sector.

"Nag-anhi ta diri para magpasalamat ta sa ilaha sa atong mga (We made a visit to thank our) frontliners for their volunteer work and for their partnership with the City Government of Davao para mas mapaspas atong pag-rollout sa (to fast-track the rollout of) vaccines sa (in) Davao City," she said in an ambush interview at MTS.

The mayor also thanked the private sector for its contribution.

She said the partnership between the government and non-government organizations is important considering the lack of the City's manpower in the vaccine rollout. She admitted that the Department of Health (DOH) and the different barangays had been helping in the vaccination.

"Very important nga duna tay ing-ani nga vaccination centers because nahurot na ang personnel sa City Government of Davao. In fact, ginatabangan nami sa DOH, gitabangan napud ta sa barangay, pero kulang gihapon," Duterte-Carpio said.

(It is very important that we have vaccination centers because we are running out of personnel from the City Government of Davao. In fact, we are being helped by DOH and the barangays, but it is still not enough.

The mayor also urged the public to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

She said the City is aiming to open more vaccination hubs and increase the number of targeted vaccinated residents daily to achieve the 1.2 million vaccinated residents, at least for the first dose, before the end of 2021 for herd immunity.

Davao City reached nearly half a million allocated Covid-19 vaccines for the first dose on August 21.

As of August 24, the Davao City Vaccination Cluster reported 534,327 doses inoculated for the first dose, while 316,338 were administered with the second dose.
