FORMER rebels conducted a peace rally in line with the 54th Founding Anniversary of the Communist Peoples Party (CPP) on December 26, 2022.
10th Infantry Division (10ID) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Capt. Mark Anthony Tito in a text message sent to SunStar Davao on December 26, 2022, said this peace rally was headed by former rebels Arian Jane Ramos, also known as Marikit, together with 16 former rebels at Poblacion, Quezon, Bukidnon.
Aside from the peace rally, Tito said they have also intensified security measures in their areas of responsibility.
“Our troops are still on the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and our recently cleared areas, conducting Focused Military Operations (FMO), CMO (Civil Military Operations), Intelligence Operations, and other lines of operations to prevent any hostile plans of the CTG (Communist Terrorist Group),”.
Tito said they are securing the areas to ensure the implementation of sustained operations despite no reported CTG violent and non-violent incidents since the declaration of Davao Region as insurgency-free.
“MGen. Nolasco A Mempin, our commander, also issued a directive to heighten the alert level in the whole of the 10ID area of responsibility,” he said.
Meanwhile, DCPO spokesperson Maj. Catherine dela Rey said a directive was also given to monitoring their area of responsibilities.
“Intensified ang atoang intelligence monitoring dili lamang sa DCPO (We have intensified our intelligence monitoring not only from DCPO) but in coordination with our intelligence group working in Davao Region,” Dela Rey said. KSD
