FPRRD visits slain cop’s wake, offers condolences, financial aid

THE family of Police Corporal Mark Anthony Corsino, one of the policemen killed in the Calinan, Davao City riots, was deeply moved when former President Rodrigo Duterte personally visited the fallen officer's remains on the evening of Monday, July 31, 2023.

Pictures from the Davao City Police Office captured the former President's visit to Corsino's wake at San Francisco St. in Mintal, Tugbok, Davao City.

During the visit, the former President offered his condolences to Corsino's family and provided financial assistance to support them in their grief.

Corsino tragically died while responding to a riot in Purok 4, Barangay Lacson, Calinan District, around 4 p.m. on July 26, 2023. Police Senior Master Sergeant Tito Lague, who was about to retire, was also killed in the incident.

Two other officers, Police Corporal Ken Leo Gumanoy and mobile driver Donald Ombrete, sustained injuries but are now recovering.

The suspect, Benao Maanib Landas, 29, was killed during the operation, and another individual, Rico Masacay, 25 years old and from Marilog, was arrested.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte paid his respects at Corsino's wake and offered his condolences to the bereaved family.
