TO ENSURE legal assistance and representation, Davao City's Liga ng Barangay is in need of a lawyer in representing the group of barangay leaders.
“Ang number one nga gi-brought up nga need sa Liga ng Barangay kay ang abogado para enkaso nga naay problema ug kinahanglan legal opinions, makakuha sila (A lawyer is needed by Liga ng Barangay to provide members with legal opinions should they need it)," Davao City Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Sr. said on Tuesday, October 9, in a media forum at the City Council.
Ibuyan underscored the importance of having a lawyer as well in guiding different barangay leaders with legal matters.
“Dili na sila kinahanglan pa mangita ug abogado kung naa man silay kinahanglan bahin sa mga legal nga lakang (They don’t need to look for a lawyer if they need someone to attend to their legal needs),” Ibuyan said.
The councilor also said the presence of a lawyer in the league of barangay leaders will definitely benefit the leaders themselves too in forwarding their future activities and plans.
With the knowledge they would be getting and legal services the leaders themselves will avail, they can create more interesting projects and services for their fellow Dabawenyos in their respective barangays.
“Mangita pa pud ta karun kung kinsa pud ang gusto mu-apply arun mabutang sa Liga ng Baranggay (We are still currently looking for a lawyer who is interested in applying so that we could place him/her in the barangay league),” Ibuyan added.
