Marcos appoints Magno as CORDS for Davao

PRESIDENTIAL Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno has been designated as the Cabinet Officers for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Southern Mindanao.

The designation of CORDS in every region of the country aims to strengthen and expand the mechanisms of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in delivering government programs and projects to geographically isolated and conflict-affected areas (GICAS) as well as to promote peace, unity and good governance.

Other Cabinet secretaries with CORDS designations are: Maria Susana “Toots” Ople (National Capital Region); Jaime Bautista (Cordillera Autonomous Region); Conrado Estrella III (Ilocos Region); Alfredo Pascual (Cagayan Valley); Rexlon Gatchalian (Central Luzon); Jesus Crispin Remulla (Calabarzon); Ivan John Uy (Mimaropa); Bienvenido Laguesma (Bicol Region); Raphael Perpetuo Lotilla (Western Visayas); Maria Esperanza Cristina Frasco (Central Visayas); Benhur DC Abalos Jr. (Eastern Visayas) ; Manuel Bonoan (Zamboanga Peninsula); Jose Rizalino Acuzar (Northern Mindanao); Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga (Soccsksargen); Allen Capuyan (Caraga); Carlito Galvez Jr. ( Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao).

As a CORDS, Magno said he is tasked to assist in articulating the region’s concerns and issues with the Office of the President, the Cabinet, other departments, and other government agencies.

Likewise, he will aid the President in resolving government issues in his region, and address peace and security concerns through Regional Peace Order Councils, Cabinet Oversight Committee on Internal Security, Regional Development Councils, and local special bodies.(PR)
