Mobile Library at Doña Vicenta Park

THE mobile library of the City Library and Information Center (CLIC) on Friday delivered services to students at the Doña Vicenta Park in celebration of the International Literacy Day.

Around 160 pre-schoolers to Grade 4 pupils from the Center for Brighter Beginnings (CBB) participated in the activity wherein they got to partake in storytelling and book-reading, among others. The school’s older students (Grades 1-4) also visited the city library.

CBB Principal Inin Herrera said Friday’s activity was held “very smoothly” and that the school’s celebration of the International Literacy Day was made more fun and engaging by the outdoor setting and the presence of two library buses from CLIC as the students were able to participate in the mobile library’s “pabasa” program and storytelling activity at the park.

“It’s a very good experience for our kids. And ultimately, our aim is to nurture their genuine love for reading and bring them outdoors,” Herrera said.

CLIC Mobile Library program focal person Arniel Enoc said the CBB was the first private school to request for the mobile library’s services this year.

Enoc said the activity is in line with the objectives of CLIC’s newest bus, which is to deliver services to daycare centers and pre-schools. The other bus used during the activity contained books for older children.

“Kini pud na bus nato kay intended gyud ni siya sa mga daycare ug sa mga toddler so bagay kaayo. Kadto namang level two nila, didto pud nato gipa-adto sa pikas bus (This new bus is intended for daycare and toddlers so it is really suitable. Their level two students meanwhile can use the other bus),” he said.

All schools, especially public ones, are enjoined to partner with the mobile library and hold their own reading activity.

“Ma-private man or ma-public school, basta mag-request lang gud sila sa atoang office, andam gyud mi mu-serve sa ilahang tanan (Whether private or public schools, as long as they send in request to our office, we are ready to serve them all),” Enoc added. CIO
