Nabbed drug suspect not a city employee

PUBLIC Safety and Command Center (PSSCC) clarified that a drug suspect who was nabbed in a drug bust is no longer connected to their office as reported.

“This is to clarify that Jayson O. Bendoy, who was caught in a drug buy-bust operation on June 2 along with other suspects, is not an employee of the Davao City Local Government Unit,” retired General Benito de Leon, PSSCC head, said in a statement.

“Bendoy formerly worked as CSU (Civil Security Unit) personnel under a job order contract, however, his services were terminated last December 2017. He was no longer connected with PSSCC at the time of the reported incident,” he added.

Earlier, joint elements from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao Region together with Talomo Police Station launched an anti-drug operation around 2 p.m. in a hotel located at Cabaguio Avenue, Agdao, Davao City last July 2.

The target of the operation was Bendoy, 35, and a resident of Block 40, Lot 11, Country Homes, Cabantian.

His cohort, identified as Razil Gabia Manlapaz, 29, and a resident of San Francisco Village, Barangay Centro, Agdao, was also apprehended.

The suspects were arrested for conspiring with each other in selling one sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” worth P1,000 to an undercover operative.

Also recovered were another five small sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less two grams with a street value of P30,000, assorted drug paraphernalia and the P 1,000 marked money from their possession.

He is facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act and now under the custody of PDEA-Davao Region.
