Nordeco to give discount to marginalized consumers

THE Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Nordeco) will be giving a Life Line Rate discount to its consumers under the provisions of the law.

Regie D. Ringo, information officer of Nordeco, said in an interview on dxRD 711 Sonshine Radio that the discount rate is in accordance with the law that must be enjoyed especially by their marginalized end-users.

The Life Line Rate is a subsidized rate given to end-users published under Republic Act (RA) 11552 "An Act Extending and Enhancing the Implementation of the Lifeline Rate, Amending for the Purpose, Section 73 of Republic Act No. 9136, Otherwise Known as the 'Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001,' as Amended by Republic Act No. 10150.”

The program is part of the socialized pricing mechanism that will give a percentage discount, under the guidelines laid out by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

For those who wish to apply, all documents must be submitted in physical copy or electronic form to the Nordeco office.

Nordeco announced this to help poor members-consumers-owners reduce their electricity bills.

Nordeco assures that it will help those who apply to be provided with discounts on their electricity bill, especially those living in the provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.

Previously, some members-consumers-owners of Nordeco complained about their high electricity bills but Nordeco explained the reasons for this as it reminds their consumers of the rights of the marginalized end-users to avail of a discount for their electricity consumption.
