IN A bid to fight fake news online, the National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP) will soon launch Fakeblok.
Secretary general of NUJP Dabet Castañeda-Panelo said during an interview on October 28, 2018 that Fakeblok is a Google Chrome app where the people can report suspicious items, stories, or websites which is an unreliable source of news and it will be blacklisted by the app. Since most of the people today uses mobile they are planning to have Fakeblok in Facebook to reach out to the people who read news online.
"I think this is the only app that engages the community to fight against fake news," Panelo said
She added it encourages the people to be aware and fight fake news.
She further said the app will be very useful because it warns the readers to be more aware in reading news article because it is verified by the journalists of NUJP.
