Over 180K tourists expected to arrive for Kadayawan 2023

THE executive committee (execom) of the Kadayawan Festival is expecting a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Davao City during its celebration with more than 180,000.

This was revealed during the unveiling of the Kadayawan Festival 2023 logo and the launching of its music at the Seda Hotel, Abreeza Ayala Mall on Monday afternoon, July 17, 2023.

In August last year, the city generated an arrival of 110,000 tourists while for this year, it is targeting to surpass this number to around 180,000 to 200,000.

The execom is expecting that of this number, 90 percent will be local tourists while 10 percent will be coming from abroad.

“We are banking on ‘revenge travel’ of people, balikbayans or Dabawenyos or people living outside for a long time.

They will come and visit and they will visit us here. Bring your friends, bring your families in time for Kadayawan,” Davao City Tourism Operations Officer-in-Charge Jennifer R. Romero said.

While for hotel accommodations, data from the City Tourism Office (CTO) shows that the number of available rooms all over Davao is 4,400, including self-style accommodations and dormitels.

The execom also passed a resolution and is awaiting the proclamation of the president that will declare August 18 as a special non-working holiday so that Dabawenyos can enjoy the long weekend in time for the Kadayawan festival.

They are also working on another committee that will work on marketing and enticing airline companies to create more flights to Davao City for Kadayawan Festival.
