P150-K damages at NCCC fire

THE Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao Region (BFP-Davao Region) bared on October 6, 2023, that the October 5 NCCC Main Magsaysay fire incident caused damages estimated at P150,000.

In a phone interview, SF04 Ramil Gillado, BFP-Davao City Fire District Intelligence, and Investigation Section Chief, said the fire originated from the breaker in the freezer department, where frozen goods are stored. 

He confirmed there were no casualties or minor injuries reported.

“Ang dakong dakong damage lang tung poste sa maong department (The primary damage was limited to the electrical post in that area)," he said.

He added, “Security guard ang una naka-discover sa maong sunog. While ga roving sila, didto nila nakita nga naay naga-aso aso and automatic dayon ta na niresponde (A security guard was the first to notice the fire during their rounds. Upon seeing smoke, they promptly initiated the response)."

The BFP-Davao Region received the call about the incident around 9 p.m., and by 10 p.m., they had the fire under control. By 11 p.m., the scene was declared fire out.

“So far, sir, okay naman ang imbestigasyon and officially closed napud ni sya kay dali man dayon nato na respondehan (The investigation is progressing well, and we've officially closed the case due to our swift response)," he said.

Meanwhile, the NCCC Management also stated on their Facebook account on October 6.

“There were no customers or employees on the premises except for technical personnel conducting clearing procedures. The fire was under control 20 minutes later but thick smoke was still observed coming from the area. Fireout was declared by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) soon thereafter. An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire and extent of damage,” NCCC Management said.

As of this month, the BFP and Team Davao Rescue recorded five fire-related incidents, including the recent one at NCCC. DEF
