Pagasa forecast 2 to 3 more typhoons to enter PAR in November

TWO to three typhoons might enter the vicinity of the Philippines this November 2022 due to the Amihan season, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Davao (Pagasa-Davao).

In an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio, Lolita Binalay, Chief Meteorological Officer of Pagasa, said these typhoons will enter the Philippine area of responsibility this November, one of them is typhoon Rosal.

“Northeast naman gud ang hangin, hanging Amihan na so ang mga bagyo sa last quarter during the northeast season is pababa, iyahang cloudiness ug ang distribution sa iyahang rainfalls tungod sa pabor sa hanging Amihan sa eastern part,” Binalay said.

Earlier, Davao City was affected by a low-pressure area (LPA) which is 420 kilometers east of General Santos City that brought light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

“Samtang padool si bagyong Queenie sa Eastern Visayas nahimo siyang tropical depression then LPA (As tropical storm Queenie approached Eastern Visayas, it slowed down and became a tropical depression then an LPA),” Binalay said.

Pagasa said Davao Region is affected with this LPA specifically the watercourses including Davao Oriental rivers and its tributaries in Cateel, Dapnan, Baganga, Mahan-ub, Manorigao, Caraga, Casaunan, quinonoan, bhagwan, Mayo, bitanayan, Sumlog, Tangmoan, Dacongbonwa, Kabasagan, Manay, Sumlao/Cuabo.

In Davao del Norte, its rivers and tributaries in Tagum-Libuganon, Tuganay, Saug and Lasang are also affected, Davao de Oro’s Matiao and Hijo, Davao del Sur particularly in Davao rivers in Talomo, Lipadas, Tagulaya Sibulan, also in Digod and Padada Mainit.

While in Davao Occidental’s river and tributaries in Panglan, Malita, Batanan, Lais, Lawan, Latuan, Calian, Lamita, Lawayon, Culama, Caburan Big, Maubio, Karabana, Tubayo, Kayapung, Malala, Capusolo, Tanoman B1, Tanoman Small, Kalbay, BUtua, Nuin, Butula, Baki, Malagupo, Bologna, Batulaki.

Pagasa reminded Dabawenyos who live near the mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the indicated river system to be alert for possible flash floods.

Meanwhile, Binalay said Dabawenyos should be kept updated on any announcements from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) of the risks of LPA that may bring in Davao Region. KSD
